1 min read

Pulse Lab Jakarta (PLJ) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have announced a call for entries for ‘Data Innovation Mini Grants’ to catalyse innovation in collecting, analyzing, and visualizing data that will help the Government of Indonesia in providing more effective services to its citizens. Grants of up to USD 10,000 will be awarded to successful applicants, the deadline for entry is March 17 2015.

post on mini grants

The mini grants are intended to find innovative ways to tackle data gaps and seek novel approaches in the following areas: frontline service delivery, protection of the poor and the vulnerable, and implementation of the village law. Interested organizations can select one of the three themes listed above. More information about the different thematic areas can be found in the grant proposal document (available in English or in Bahasa Indonesia)

The grants seek to encourage actual experimentation, not theoretical research, since the objective is to build new skills in the winning organisations through actual use of new tools and approaches. The expected outcome is therefore not a research paper, but rather a working prototype that can be used for planning purposes.

Call for proposals

This call for proposals is open to any organisation registered in Indonesia. Civil society organizations, non-government organisations, start-up companies, research centres and communities are all very welcome to apply.  We will begin accepting applications from now. The deadline for submission is 17th March, 2015 by 12.00 p.m Jakarta local time (GMT+7)

For more information please see the proposal template (available in English or in Bahasa Indonesia)  and terms of reference (in English and in Bahasa Indonesia)
