In November 2011 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, the General Assembly was briefed on UN Global Pulse’s progress. This book is a record of that event and presents i) emerging techniques in information technology that make Global Pulse possible, ii) preparatory work in Indonesia and Uganda for launch of the first Pulse Labs, iii) the results of five research projects to test concepts underlying the application of real-time data and global development and iv) the roadmap for UN Global Pulse.
