17 December, 2019 at 7:30 AM – 12:00 PM Uganda, Kampala
The 4th Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0) is well underway in Uganda and in Africa, reshaping how people live, work and conduct business. Having recognized the huge role new technologies can play in achieving Uganda’s Vision 2040 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Government of Uganda wants to realize the 4th Industrial Revolution in the Third National Development Plan (NDP III) Priority Areas including Agriculture; Tourism; Minerals, Oil and Gas; Infrastructure; and Human Capital Development.
To this end, the Government established the Expert National Task Force on Fourth Industrial Revolution Technologies to develop a National 4IR Strategy to harness the transformational potential of these technologies for national and international development aspirations.
To realize the aforementioned objectives, the Ministry of ICT & National Guidance has partnered with UN Global Pulse to organize a workshop for the National Task Force with the engagement of the Global Pulse-led Expert Group on Governance of Data and AI as well as other selected experts on data ethics, privacy and AI.
The workshop will serve as a platform for exchange and critical dialogue. It will be an opportunity for brainstorming and networking that will ground the Task Force’s upcoming policy recommendations in a fact-based, localized and shared discourse and will in turn contribute to policy coherence.
