Data Science Africa 2019, Accra – Panel on AI ethics

(Accra, Ghana) Organized during the Data Science Africa, Accra 2019 workshop series, the purpose of this panel is to discuss the key challenges in the design and use of AI, including algorithmic transparency and bias. The discussion will aim to not only identify these and other issues, but also to pinpoint potential technological solutions.

This panel will build on discussions from a workshop on  developing an ethical AI framework in African economies, co-hosted by UN Global Pulse, The Ministry of Communications for Ghana and the Data Protection Commission for Ghana in June during the International Conference on Data Protection and the outcomes of the meetings on “AI and Privacy: challenges and ways forward in the Global South”co-hosted by UN Global Pulse and OHCHR in Tunis during the RightsCon.
