International Girls in ICT Day

(New York, USA) Key to creating a more inclusive ICT sector with increased participation by women and greater interest among girls to undertake studies in the area is having more visible and diverse female role models in tech; better understanding of the array of tech jobs available and the different pathways into them; and of how tech can be a means to other ends, including to fulfill social purpose and social impact, rather than just be an end in itself.
To mark International Girls in ICT Day 2018 in New York City, the ITU, UNICEF, UN ICC, NYC Mayor’s Office for International Affairs, and BuildNBlaze are bringing girls and boys together with women in tech to meet and be inspired by each other, engage in group discussions, and participate in a fun get-to-know-you-activity.
UN Global Pulse will join celebrations with speaking engagements from prominent women technologists working at our Lab in New York.
