ITU Telecom World Forum 2015

14 October, 2015

(Budapest, Hungary) The annual ITU Telcom World Forum will include a session entitled “Data-rich, decision-making-poor: how to use big data for improved government action” which will examine how governments can make the best use of big data, from facilitating investment in next generation networks to integrating the work of economists and statisticians with that of data scientists and industry players. How can operators be encouraged to make data available? How can transparency in data collection reduce fear of abuse and misuse of data? How can regulation ensure privacy and non-discrimination whilst enabling data-based innovation for the public good?

The session will take place on Wednesday 14 October (4:30 PM – 6:00 PM, Conf Room 3), and panelists will include:

  • Mr Toni Eid, Editor In-Chief, Telecom Review, United Arab Emirates (Moderator)
  • Ms Helani Galpaya, CEO, LIRNEasia, Sri Lanka
  • Dr René Arnold, Head of Department Markets and Perspectives, WIK, Germany
