Geospatial Solutions for Sustainable Development
(New York, USA) The Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) together with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) are organizing a "Second Discovery Day" in New York on 6 December 2017.
The aim of the event is to bring together geospatial solutions that can speed and shift the sustainable development in multiple sectors such as: damage assessment, disaster risk reduction, early warning, social protection, infrastructure and rehabilitation, deforestation, land use, water monitoring, carbon footprint, climate change, mining sector, projects formulation, Natural Bio Diversity, M&E, planning, communication, coordination, and policy support.
Presenters from different space agencies, private sector, educational institutes and involved UN entities, will present their efforts and support to the UN in achieving the SDGs.
Global Pulse is pleased to be part of the event and provide a presentation of the Data Privacy, Ethics and Protection, a guidance note on big data for achievement of the 2030 Agenda. This is the first guidance that has been officially approved and adopted by UN Development Group with regard to big data and privacy and ethics.
