UN Global Pulse has introduced the UN Global Pulse Scale Accelerator, a new programme designed to advance innovative solutions in the UN system from the pilot stage to scale. The Scale Accelerator is open for teams across the UN family who are working on innovative solutions and aiming to maximize their impact. 

We’re seeking UN teams that have already tested their innovative ideas in real-world scenarios within the development sector, rather than ideas that are still at the conceptual stage. Applications for the Scale Accelerator are open until 15 January 2024.

The Scale Accelerator was developed following research conducted by UN Global Pulse in 2022  to understand how the UN could better create the conditions for identifying and expanding promising ideas. The Scale Accelerator is one of the initiatives aimed at tackling challenges and addressing gaps identified through this research.

The Scale Accelerator begins with the Scale Strategy Development Workshop Series, an in-depth online workshop series scheduled between 19 February and 01 March 2024. This series will involve assessing readiness for scalability, crafting strategies for scaling, and providing tailored training on common challenges related to scaling, such as business modeling, forming partnerships, and monitoring and evaluation. By the end of the workshop series, all participating teams will have developed their own Scale Strategy for their innovations.

Following this, two teams with the most well-defined scale visions and goals and clear plans to address identified gaps will be chosen to receive a grant and additional technical guidance to implement their scale strategy.
